There
are coaches for many things, we have birthing coaches, every
sport (individual or team) has a coach, we
have coaches for our kids, we have coaches for music, we have coaches for just
about everything. Except the day to day struggles, trials and tribulations of
life itself.
Years ago, life was simpler, slower and easier, but life has become so incredibly busy that we need someone to remind
us of who we are, how great we can be and to help bring clarity to our daily routine. So it only makes sense that we have a Life Coach, because after
all, aren't your life skills the most important aspect of your day to day
existence that we all should strive to improve on?
Coaching by design, is simply
a tool to help you grow, become more balanced and to get the most out of yourself.
So
What Can a Life Coach Do For ME?
ANOTHER
GREAT QUESTION!
This,
of course, is the most important and most asked question.
What's in it for ME?
What can you do for ME?
Why would I want or need a Life Coach?
A
Life Coach will help bring out the true YOU and help you to make some of the
most important and most difficult decisions of your life.
A Life Coach will validate, champion and encourage you in your most
important and more importantly, in the daily tasks, we call life.
A Life Coach can help you realize clarity or
the inner self that makes you who you are, but many of us often lose in today's
busy world.
A Life Coach will
entice you to be your absolute best and encourage you to find solutions within
yourself.
A Life Coach will help you through difficult and trying times by being
there to support and help you.
A Life Coach will bring out the best you have to
offer and then help you refine your skills to be even better than you imagined
you could be.
We all have greatness within ourselves, but few of us ever
discover how great we can be.
"We
are all Human Beings, but today many of us have become Human Doings" Get Back
to BEING
Life Coaching will
help you discover your own greatness.
I
Don't Need 'Help' or Therapy?
THAT'S
GREAT BECAUSE IT ISN'T WHAT A LIFE COACH DOES
A
true and professional Life Coach will NOT impose their personal opinions on you,
give you answers or tell you
what to do, nor will you be analyzed or 'treated' like a patient in psychotherapy. In fact,
the majority of Life Coaches are not licensed to
practice therapy. In all honestly, I **personally would be leery of a Life Coach who actually is a licensed and practicing professional in the field of therapy or
psychology because, there is simply too much opportunity to turn a coaching session into a 'couch type session'. This is not what Life
Coaching is about. It definitely is NOT what I do.
If you require this type of help, please seek a licensed professional from the mental health
field.
Therapy looks into your past, and tries to find the answers to 'why' things are
the way they are.
Life Coaching looks at the present and into the future of what YOU CAN BECOME and how
you can grow to be that person.
A good life Coach will be there to support and draw answers from within you. A
true Life Coach will make you think about your options and possible solutions. You'll never be analyzed. Life Coaching sessions should
never feel like 'therapy'. They should feel more like time spent with a wise and supportive old friend who really wants to know the real you and
desperately wants to see, and help you do well, at whatever you choose to do.

What the
Media Has to Say About Life Coaching
“Part consultant, part motivational speaker,
part therapist, and part rent-a-friend, coaches work with managers,
entrepreneurs, and just plain folks, helping them define and achieve
their goals — career, personal, or most often, both.”— Newsweek,
February 1996
“Coaches have the ability to view things from afar—in what some call
‘helicopter vision’—and to shed new light on difficult situations, often
they can act as a sounding board through tough decisions, help sharpen skills,
motivate.” – CFO Magazine
Phone Coaching
vs In-Person Coaching
While I certainly can and do meet face to face with my clients, I prefer to
coach by phone or via an online chat service.
Following are some of the key reasons that I prefer these methods.
Efficiency. It is more efficient for
myself and my clients. I can coach you in any location at any time, anywhere
in the world. Time IS money and by communicating through these methods
everyone saves time and communicating is far more effective and
productive.
Accessibility. I coach clients from
Europe and all over the world. I certainly wouldn't expect my clients to fly
to my location just to see me and I sure can't fly from location to location
for an hour meeting a week. There is never a worry about 'being in town' to
get to a scheduled appointment, we can always communicate, from anywhere
there is a phone. If it weren't
for the internet and the amazing communication options we have in today's
world no one would have the options presented to us, take advantage and
embrace these options.
Anonymity. It is my experience, that
people tend to open up more quickly when they are on the phone. Sometimes
you don't want to 'bump into' the person whom you have discussed your life
with, by communicating over the phone or Internet, we may actually never
meet, or we may meet and not even know it. You even have the luxury of
keeping your true identity private if you wish.. Phone coaching is the
perfect if you want are uncomfortable discussing 'delicate' matters or even
if you are simply a very private person. A great many people find this gives
them the freedom to really tell the truth about their life and what is
really going on. Remember that I have a legal obligation to keep all
conversations and information confidential.
Phone coaching is highly effective.
Trust me it definitely IS, but don't take my word for it, give it a
go! I

**There
are Life Coaches who are or were Licensed in the Mental Health field who have
stepped away or are able to 'turn off' their internal Analyst while conducting Life Coaching
sessions. I'm not suggesting this can't be done, many are quite good at doing
both. My suggestion is only that you make sure of the situation and person you
are going to work with, to ensure it is the best possible fit for your needs.
